My name is Aris. Aris is pronounced (heiress) and I'm not sure what the meaning is. Several years ago, when I was asked what my name meant, I replied that Aris was a Greek Sexx Goddess (what can I say I'm a romance writer). Unfortunately, my husband happened to be near, he looked over at me, rolled his eyes, and said very loudly "I wish". I've moved on to another story, which happens to be true. I was born in the seventies to a pair of hippies, real hippies. Having said that, I think I got off lucky with the name Aris. It could have been much worse, Fruit Stand or something like that. So, Aris it is.

~E-Books ~

Do you have to have a Kindle, Nook, or iPad, to read an e-book?
Nope you don’t need an e-reader of any kind to buy and read an e-book!  Chances are you already have what you need to read an e-book. Do you have a computer or an iPhone, if so you’re in luck. There are so many apps which you can get through Amazon, Twitter, Facebook, etc…which will allow you to convert the PDF file into a book to read. If you don’t want to use an app you can download software like, Adobe Digital Editions—it is FREE and this too will allow you to read an e-book!
So head over to Amazon or B&N and find a really cheap book and give it a try.

~Second Hand Store Treasure~

I know it’s a little early for an Easter post but I found these fabulous Easter ornaments this weekend and I just had to share them. They were 20 cents...and that’s for all of them! I discovered them mixed in with all the plastic eggs that you fill. They are beaded and have such great detail. I believe I scored!

~ A Real Life Heroine~

Meghan Brown, could easily be a heroine from a novel!

When a burly ex-convict forced his way into a posh Florida home last week, he had no idea what awaited him -- a 25-year-old beauty queen with a pink .38-caliber handgun.
Meghan Brown, a former Florida pageant queen, shot and killed 42-year-old Albert Franklin Hill during a home invasion March 12 at the 2,732-square-foot house she shares with her fiance in Tierra Verde, Fla.
Hill barged into the home at around 3 a.m. after Brown responded to a knock at the front door, according to a police report. He allegedly grabbed the 110-pound Brown around her nose and mouth and dragged her to an upstairs bedroom.
The woman’s fiance, Robert Planthaber, said in an interview that he was quickly awakened by the altercation and ran to Brown’s side.
"I attacked him and took a severe beating to the head," Planthaber told FoxNews.com. "But I got him off of her long enough for her to scramble to the room where she keeps her pink .38 special.”
Brown, who reigned as the 2009 Miss Tierra Verde, snatched her gun from a nearby bedroom and shot the suspect several times – hitting him in the chest, groin, thigh and back, her fiance said. Hill was pronounced dead at the scene.

I love vintage cards and postcards so when I found these cookies I just couldn’t believe it. They are so amazing and beautiful. I wouldn't want to eat it!

I really like these too.  The detail is fabulous and they look so buttery. They are made in Wisconsin and when you order them they come in a very nice tin.

At my house we will be making green mashed potatoes!!! Or Mint Chip Icream!!!

~Across Eternity~

I just finished Across Eternity! As a writer I love the process of writing, but I also love the feeling of a finished book. This book is totally different than anything I’ve ever written…I hope everyone enjoys it!
Across Eternity is a beautiful love story that tells of love that transcends time. The characters are complex and their emotions are profound. Across Eternity pushes the boundary of reality delving into past lives as well as future lives.
Keep an eye out for it on Amazon and B&N.
** I am looking for reviewers to review Across Eternity so drop me a line if this sounds like something you’d like to read  ariswhittier(at)gmail.com**
Here’s a quick blurb and the Prologue.
Blurb
Born a genius; education, wealth, and prestige came easy to Logan Richards. Actually, there wasn’t much that Logan couldn’t learn or acquire. However, he knew there was more to life than money and power. Logan was determined to find the woman who he'd dreamed of his entire life and know what it was like to love her before he died.
Amber Lewis, a waitress for a five-star restaurant in, Dana Point, California, was overworked, stressed, and wary of life since her sister, Heather, had passed away. Then, one evening while working she fell hopelessly in love with Logan Richards, a chivalrous man who felt deeply familiar.
For Amber, it was the beginning of a voyage of self-discovery and renewal. For Logan, it was the completion of life. For each of them it was the deepest sort of love.

Prologue

Logan Richards gripped the steering wheel tightly as he slammed on the brake and came to a jolting halt in the middle of the busy street. Chest tight, breath abated, his heart leapt while he frantically tried to organize his thoughts as he watched the woman move down the crowded sidewalk. Craning his head, Logan followed her closely as she moved in between people—disappearing and reappearing—it would be devastating if he lost track of her amongst the crowd.
Where was she going? Logan thought frantically. His pulse raced wildly as he lost sight of her momentarily. And then after a few seconds he released his breath in a ragged sigh of relief as he watched her walk into The Pavilion. “It’s her,” he whispered to himself. “It’s really her.”
He had waited for this moment his entire life.

~Grandmother’s Ring~

Just last month my mom found, in an old handkerchief, stuff in the back of my Grandpa’s sock drawer an old, and very dirty ring….actually is was so dirty it was black.  When she questioned him about it he said he hadn’t seen that ring in over 60 years. He had given it to my Grandma when she was 20 as a promise ring. A few months later it was accidently tossed in the incinerator. When my Grandma realized it was being burned she spent the entire week sifting through the ashes and at last she found her ring. It was burned badly and the pearl was missing. My Grandpa said that he had bought her another pearl to put in it but they never had it repaired. My mom went back to the sock drawer and guess what!? Yes, she found a box with a pearl in it. My Grandma passed away over 30 years ago so no one ever knew what happened to the ring—or that it even existed.  I had the ring repaired, cleaned, and the pearl set and now my daughter has the ring…she can wear it for “special occasions” only. I couldn’t tell before, but it is platinum, has a few small diamonds, and of course the pearl. I think it is beautiful and I’m so glad my Grandma didn’t give up on finding it!
