My name is Aris. Aris is pronounced (heiress) and I'm not sure what the meaning is. Several years ago, when I was asked what my name meant, I replied that Aris was a Greek Sexx Goddess (what can I say I'm a romance writer). Unfortunately, my husband happened to be near, he looked over at me, rolled his eyes, and said very loudly "I wish". I've moved on to another story, which happens to be true. I was born in the seventies to a pair of hippies, real hippies. Having said that, I think I got off lucky with the name Aris. It could have been much worse, Fruit Stand or something like that. So, Aris it is.

~the Big Tidy-Up~

This is one of my all time favorite books from when I was a kid. It brings back so many great memories. I loved this book until it fell apart. It's called the Big Tidy-Up and is written by Norah Smaridge, and illustrated by Les Gray. The copyright is 1970.
It's a story about a little girl, named Jennifer, who hates cleaning her room, so her mother lets her keep it a mess.  But, of course, it becomes so messy that it's not fun anymore, so she decides to clean it up in the end.
The illustrations are adorable and it actually inspired me to clean my room—if you can imagine that.
So what’s one of your favorite childhood books?

  1. This looks like a great book. What beautiful illustrations. I can't believe I haven't heard of it. I hated cleaning my room as a child- so this would have been perfect. I had some fairy tale books that I adored as a child. Also- I loved Alexander and the Terrible, No Good Day and Where the Wild Things Are. The Little Match Girl was another favorite.
